Marine Containership

Container transport provides uninterrupted delivery of goods from consignor to the beneficiary and

significant reduction in the volume of interim cargo handling.

We use ISO containers of standardized size utilized worldwide. The unified position of strikers (fittings) avoids additional container fixation on the vehicle or reduces it considerably.

Faster cargo handling reduces vehicle dwell times and therefore cuts financial costs.

Intermodal transport is also available: the container is reloaded at once by a crane from one means of transport into another (e.g. from automobile into a rail wagon).

Nowadays this mode of cargo transportation is the most popular worldwide. Its disadvantages: longer delivery terms as compared to air freight, and less accessible outlet to the sea in some of the countries. E.g., in Russia, ports of Saint-Petersburg, Novorossiysk and Vladivostok are the only direct destinations.

We deliver cargoes from the USA, disregarding weight and overall dimensions limits, to Russia, Europe, China, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Belarus, as well as in the opposite direction.

There are several methods of consignment depending on cargo parameters:

1. Dismantle the item, and (or) divide it into a few parts and repackage them into separate parcels. Such scenarios happen rather frequently, and the customers occasionally consider this option.

2. In case the goods are bulky and heavy and there is no rush to deliver, it is possible to ship the goods by sea to one of the ports of Russia, Europe, China, Turkey in a container, as a part of consolidated cargo.

There are several types of shipping containers:

  • standard 20 ft. and 40 ft. containers

  • open-top containers

  • flats

  • high-cube containers,

  • refrigerated containers.

The appropriate type of a container is selected according to the cargo properties.

Consolidated cargo, or LCL: In some cases, a whole shipping container is excessive for required load transportation and containers delivery from the USA. In this situation LCL (Less Than Container Load) or partial container load can be utilized. In that case you pay only for the part of the container that you fill with your load.

Ro-ro transport is aimed at carriage of rolling cargoes, such as automobiles, trailers, other types of wheeled equipment.

Shipload lots. Shipload lot is the amount of cargo to load a vessel destined to the intended port. This type of transport implies that the shipping company fully undertakes all the tasks from fitting out and chartering of ships to customs clearance of goods and acquiring all the appropriate certificates.

Door-to-door carriage by sea is a popular type of transport. In this case, the services package includes delivery to port, full accompanying of the freight while en route, unloading at destination port and delivery to the beneficiary warehouse. Due to elimination of various expenses and "reconciling", the delivery terms and costs are reduced to minimum, therefore this type of transport is offered at best available rate.

CONTAINER LOADING METHODS

  • LIVE LOADING The carrier delivers an empty container to the consignor's warehouse, where the loading takes several hours. Then the truck driver seals the container and takes it to port. The rate for transportation includes one hour for loading, and the driver's extra dwell time is paid at a rate of 75 USD per hour.

  • 'N'PICK The driver leaves the container to the consignor's safekeeping for a few days to complete the loading, and on specified date he returns to retrieve the container and deliver it to port. This method is more expensive than Live Loading, as the driver needs to get to the consignor's warehouse twice, however, eventually this option may be more favourable than e.g. paying for ten hours dwell time during Live Loading.
